چکیده

The Myhill-Nerode Theorem (that for any regular language, there is a canonical recognizing device) is of paramount importance for the computational handling of many formalisms about finite words. For infinite words, no prior concept of homomorphism or structural comparison seems to have generalized the Myhill-Nerode Theorem in the sense that the concept is both language preserving and representable by automata. In this paper, we propose such a concept based on Families of Right Congruences [3], which we view as a recognizing structures. We also establish an exponential lower and upper bound on the change in size when a representation is reduced to its canonical form.

Homomorphism Weak amenability of certain Banach algebras

In this paper we introduce the notion of $varphi$-commutativity for a Banach algebra $A$, where $varphi$ is a continuous homomorphism on $A$ and study the concept of $varphi$-weak amenability for $varphi$-commutative Banach algebras. We give an example to show that the class of $varphi$-weakly amenable Banach algebras is larger than that of weakly amenable commutative Banach algebras. We charac...

Contractive and Completely Contractive Homomorphisms of Planar Algebras

We consider contractive homomorphisms of a planar algebra A(Ω) over a finitely connected bounded domain Ω ⊆ C and ask if they are necessarily completely contractive. We show that a homomorphism ρ : A(Ω) → B(H) for which dim(A(Ω)/ ker ρ) = 2 is the direct integral of homomorphisms ρT induced by operators on two dimensional Hilbert spaces via a suitable functional calculus ρT : f 7→ f(T ), f ∈ A(...

We develop a Chern-Weil theory for compact Lie group action whose generic stabilizers are finite in the framework of equivariant cohomology. This provides a method of changing an equivariant closed form within its cohomological class to a form more suitable to yield localization results. This work is motivated by our work [5] on reproving wall crossing formulas in Seiberg-Witten theory, where t...

Seidel’s Representation on the Hamiltonian Group of a Cartesian Product

Let (M,ω) be a closed symplectic manifold and Ham(M,ω) the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of (M,ω). Then the Seidel homomorphism is a map from the fundamental group of Ham(M,ω) to the quantum homology ring QH∗(M ; Λ). Using this homomorphism we give a sufficient condition for when a nontrivial loop ψ in Ham(M,ω) determines a nontrivial loop ψ × idN in Ham(M ×N, ω ⊕ η), where (N, η) is a c...

Quantum Query Complexity of Subgraph Isomorphism and Homomorphism

Let H be a fixed graph on n vertices. Let fH(G) = 1 iff the input graph G on n vertices contains H as a (not necessarily induced) subgraph. Let αH denote the cardinality of a maximum independent set of H. In this paper we show: Q(fH) = Ω ( √ αH · n) , where Q(fH) denotes the quantum query complexity of fH . As a consequence we obtain a lower bounds for Q(fH) in terms of several other parameters...
